Instructions

  1. Pat cod fillets dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Lightly dredge the cod fillets in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the butter is foaming and the pan is hot.
  4. Carefully place the cod fillets in the skillet and pan-sear until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Flip the fillets and cook until the other side is golden brown and the fish is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes more.
  6. Remove the cooked fillets from the skillet and transfer to a plate.

  8. Add the capers to the lemon juice in the skillet.
  9. Simmer the sauce until it reduces slightly and becomes glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
  10. Nestle the seared cod fillets back into the skillet with the sauce and spoon the sauce over the fillets to heat through for about 1 minute.
  11. Optionally garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.
