  • Total Time: 20-30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Mission street taco size flour tortillas
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1.5 tbsp neutral oil (avocado or vegetable)
  • 5 slices Kraft Deluxe American cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely diced into 1/4-inch pieces
  • Dill pickle chips, amount as desired
  • Shredded lettuce, amount as desired
  • 1 cup Hellmann’s mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp relish
  • 2.5 tbsp mustard
  • 1.5 tsp sugar
  • 0.75 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1.5 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, relish, mustard, sugar, vinegar, smoked paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder until smooth.
  2. Let the burger sauce rest for a couple of minutes to meld flavors.
  3. Place diced onion, dill pickle chips, and shredded lettuce in separate bowls for assembly.
  4. Divide ground beef into four loose 4-ounce portions without packing tightly.
  5. Have tortillas, cheese slices, salt, and freshly ground black pepper ready near the stove.
  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  7. Place one tortilla flat in the hot skillet.
  8. Spread one beef portion thinly and evenly over the tortilla to cover the surface.
  9. Season the beef with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  10. Press the beef firmly with a spatula and hold for 2–3 minutes to create a browned, crispy crust.
  11. Flip the tortilla, place one slice of cheese on the beef, and cook 1–2 minutes until the cheese melts; transfer taco to a plate.
  12. Repeat steps 7-11 for the remaining three tacos using the same skillet without adding more oil.
  13. Spread a generous spoonful of the burger sauce over the melted cheese on each taco.
  14. Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced onion, and dill pickle chips.

Notes

Use an 80/20 blend of ground beef for juicy patties with crispy edges; cold beef works best for smashing and crust formation., For leaner meat options, ground turkey or chicken can be used but may require extra oil., Corn tortillas can be substituted if warmed first to prevent cracking., Cheese alternatives like cheddar, pepper jack, or Swiss may be used if American cheese is not available., Relish can be replaced with finely chopped dill pickles if unavailable., For flavor variations, add sliced avocado, bacon bits, or substitute special sauce with chipotle mayo or barbecue sauce., Store cooked beef patties and sauce separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; keep lettuce, pickles, and tortillas separate until serving to maintain freshness., Reheat beef patties in skillet over medium heat and warm tortillas simultaneously for best results.
